Forestlore offers a unique way to relieve stress and improve your well-being.  Susan Laurent, Association of Nature & Forest Therapy Guide. will take you on a nature immersion allowing you to slow down, connect with nature and engage your senses. By being with nature,  forest therapy revitalizes your senses for a deeper connection with nature.  Susan will take you on a journey through the woodlands, where you can take in the sights, sounds, and smells of the natural world around you.

Forest Therapy is an embodiment practice that aims to support participant’s in offering their full attention to their senses. Inspired by Japanese forest bathing, Shinrin Yoku. This term was coined in the early 1980’s when Japan responded to a national health crisis resulting in a spike in stress related illness related to a technology boom that brought an increase in screen time and a decrease in time outside. Studies have been shown to have a positive impact on mental and physical health. Forest Therapy is now gaining popularity worldwide as a powerful form of therapy.

Forest therapy guided immersions are slower moving than a hike. All the prompts, invitations, ways of sharing and participating are optional and open to each individual's interpretation.  We are simply observing and exploring ourselves, nature and the oneness of it all. The emphasis is on slowing down and resting with no set destination. Forest Therapy is a chance to unplug, slow down and awaken the senses without needing to “do” anything, to simply be alive. At the end of the walk, the group shares a tea party.

The experience is approximately 2.5-3 hrs., rain/snow or shine. Arrival is 15 minutes prior to the walk. Information about restrooms, emergency/first aid and waiver is discussed at this time.

The following is a list of items to bring in a lightweight backpack or bag:

  • Small collapsible chair or small blanket to sit or lie on.

  • Bottled water/ small snack for yourself

  • A small rain poncho / umbrella

  • Shoes appropriate for walking through dirt paths, small rocks, and the water’s edge.

  • Season appropriate clothing: hats, gloves, hand warmers, etc.

Forest Therapy Walk facilitated by Susan was beyond what I imagined. Honestly thought we were just walking in the woods, but it was so much more. We were able to become one with our environment. Sharing ourselves with the nature and atmosphere around. Blessed!
